Penang II.

Temple WindowAfter a mere 6 week delay, I'm finally ready to present... pictures from Penang, Malaysia (March 2006 edition). Now with an experimental new "running commentary" feature. It's like having me watch over your shoulder while you browse, only more concise.

Nice photo(g)s, Scooter!

Had hoped you'd get to Kuala Lumpur, too: lots of interesting things to be seen and experienced there, too - and (aw, shucks!) you would have been tempted to use color, glad to report: the place and the surroundings scream "ROYGBI!" and "Paint this!"

The "City of Brotherly Love," they call it: two days after we left in wint-spring 1969, racial tensions exploded (an economic reality) and the local folks killed 600 Chinese- & Indian-extract persons whose ancestors had come there at least a generation earlier. [ Reminded me of those 18' shark that prowled and roiled the waters of the murky Port Swettenham harbor fwhere we had initially disembarked and ridden into KL, and from which we departed that lovely land.]
